About Escolha Miau
Who makes Escolha Miau, how we research products, how we keep guides up to date and how the site is funded.
Escolha Miau (Portuguese for “Choose Meow”) is an independent buying-guide site for cat owners. It started in Brazilian Portuguese; this English edition is written for shoppers in the United States, with products sold on Amazon.com. Our goal is simple: help you pick the right product the first time, without wasting money on something your cat will ignore.
How we research#
Every guide is built from three kinds of sources, always listed at the end of the page under “Sources”:
- Feline-welfare and veterinary organizations, such as International Cat Care, the ASPCA, the Cornell Feline Health Center and the AAHA/AAFP Feline Life Stage Guidelines. That’s where the recommendations about what a cat needs come from (litter box size, litter type, scratching post height, carrier design).
- Specs published by manufacturers and on Amazon.com listings. When we quote dimensions, materials or ratings, we opened the product page and give the date we checked it. If a detail isn’t on the page, or the listing contradicts itself, we say so in the text.
- Buyer reports in public reviews, used to spot patterns (for example, lots of complaints about noise) — never as proof.
What we don’t do#
- We don’t test products hands-on. When we mention noise, durability or performance, we attribute it to the manufacturer or to buyer reports.
- We don’t make up prices, ratings or testimonials. Prices change daily, so the button takes you to the live product page.
- We don’t give veterinary advice. If your cat shows any symptom, talk to your veterinarian.
Who writes the guides#
Guides are published by the Escolha Miau Team, the site’s editorial team. We don’t present any author as a veterinarian or expert: the authority behind each recommendation comes from the cited source, not from whoever wrote the text.
Updates and corrections#
Each guide shows its publication date and, when revised, the date of the last update. Products are replaced when they’re discontinued or unavailable. Spotted a mistake or something out of date? Email [email protected] and we’ll fix it.
How the site is funded#
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That doesn’t change the price you pay and doesn’t decide which products appear in the guides: no brand pays to be listed. Read more in How we choose products and in our privacy policy.
